Temporary Protected Status for Haitians

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a temporary immigration benefit that allows qualified individuals from Haiti who are in the United States to stay here for a limited time period. Haiti was designated for TPS by the Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano due to the Haiti Earthquake which prevents Haitian nationals from being able to return safely.
